After decades of practicing law, the Smietanka Law Group is calling it a day. I will be stepping back from full-time legal work; Tom Gezon will be retiring completely and Joseph Daly will be establishing his own individual law practice. Tom has been my highly respected friend since Berrien County days in 1974. Joseph continues to bring skill and passion to representing people wrongfully convicted of serious crimes. We have truly been blessed to work with our wonderful clients, and with each other as well. Joanne Riedl, our office manager, has been our friend and solid rock ever since I became United States Attorney in 1981, and the person our clients in our private practice have loved to work with for all of those 25 years. Kris Larsen Brocker, her assistant, also has been our friend and able supporter for many years since United States Attorney days.
